the band like to compare themselves to caribou, orbital, hot chip, fourtet, and pet shop boys, all pretty good touchstones in our eyes, however it was the sheer gloriousness of their music that had us hooked.

cool, dark underground club monsters. being a top player in the music industry is not an easy task! but with 15years in the business and over 150 releases, 50+ remixes & 300+ compilation appearances the numbers of jeffs output speak for them self’s. jeff started creating music in 1994 and got hooked on it directly, but it took until 1998 before his first single was to come out on his own label maskros music. since that single he has released on labels like poker flat, night drive music, episode, treibstoff, kickin music, konvex konkav, plastic city, global underground, regular etc.

fantastic limited reissue of this amazing self-titled afro-funk lp from ghanaian singing and percussion star sidiku buari. originally released in 1975, this super-rare album features an all-star cast of top funk instrumentalists playing alongside buari and boy does it show! blending heavy african rhythms with funky disco grooves, the arrangements and the playing are incredibly tight and the album is chock-full of killer tracks including advice from father (sampled by everyone from kenny dope to groove armada) and ku ka maria with its intense funky breaks and awesome drumming from legend bernard ‘pretty’ purdie, which made these tracks huge on the b-boy/breaking scene also. other stand-out tracks include the wonderful disco-tinged afro monsters karam bani and iro le pa plus the cool laidback groove of them yebtheget. top class!
